"I am married (12 years) to a great guy named Tye and have a great son, Cody. Our family also includes a pair of Welsh Corgis, Sparky and Myles, a sheep named Charlotte and two ponies, Brook and Minnie. I started in horses when I was 5 and rode at a local stable until I was 12 when my Dad bought my first horse, and I have been a total horse nut ever since. I joined 4-H in 1968 and became a leader when I was too old to be a member. For 28 years I've been an active leader of the Apple Valley 4-H Horse Club. I started judging horse shows when I was 16 and got my license to judge when I turned 21. I am a NEHC carded judge and an AJA all breed judge. I've been heavily involved in the 4-H and breed judging contests with different youth groups over the years, and I have 12 National teams to my credit. I am a life member of NHH&TA and NEHC and still show my ponies in the halter and driving sections. I currently own my own trucking company and tack shop called Griffinbrook, Ltd., based in Candia, NH. I love this job! I get to meet with horse nuts like me all day. When it gets really crazy and I need a day off, I jump in my truck and head to Vermont or New York to bring back hay and grain for my horse nut friends. It doesn't get any better than that! I also do a lot of clinics on various subjects from training to tack fit, mechanics of equipment, de-spooking, driving, etc. I run four shows called the Barn Fund Series in New Boston that have been so successful we have been able to build a new indoor arena, outdoor arena, grandstands, and sound system for the Youth Center. I also head the Horse Lover's Festival and Flea Market in June. That pretty much fills in any spare time I should have. My latest venture besides all the 4-H activities, judging horse shows and my clinic schedule is being head coach for the West High School Equestrian Team. We are 13 members strong and looking forward to our first meets in March to help high school kids get the recognition they deserve in a lettered sport through their school."
