Dr. Cliff McGinnis 2006 HORSE PERSON OF THE YEAR

The New Hampshire Horse Council Board is especially pleased and duly honored to present this years Horse Person of the Year award to Dr. Cliff McGinnis, of Pembroke, NH. Dr. McGinnis is a long-time resident of New Hampshire and has contributed vast amounts of service to the equine industry.
For many years Doc had a veterinary practice in the Concord region, and has since retired in 2005 from the Department of Agriculture, Markets & Food where for twenty years, he held the position of State Veterinarian.
Dr. McGinnis has been influential by constructing and standing behind important legislative issues pertaining to the equine industry, and has also blocked legislation that would have been extremely unfavorable to the industry. When the New Hampshire Horse Council was reorganized by Lisa Derby Oden back in 1996, Doc was there to be supportive and provide direction.
For over ten years and even now while in retirement, Doc continues to serve on the New Hampshire Farm Bureau Equine Committee offering insight & a vast knowledge base obtained from years of service. Dr. McGinnis remains active in supporting equine educational seminars statewide, and can be seen at the Farm & Forest Exposition inside the building with a horse, answering questions from an eager audience hoping to someday own one of their own. Not too many veterinarians take the time to go out of their way, help educate the public, increase equine awareness & continue to speak an educated voice that will long be heard in the equine industry & by horse lovers alike. Thank you Dr. McGinnis for your years of service and devotion to the equine community.
