Position: Website Administrator
Time Commitment: Typically about 4 to 5 hours a month, but could vary.
Requirements: Working knowledge of Microsoft Front Page, Website design, Communication & editing skills.
Duties:

To update and maintain the Website www.nhhorsecouncil.com. Consists of listing Pegasus & Grand Champion members& providing the necessary links if available. Keeping current with NHHC news updates, State Wide Trail Advisory updates, NHHC store, other news or events when provided, Legislative Alerts and or Medical alerts if applicable. List current events and Board meetings via the calendar, make available the necessary contact information for Board and Committee members & sustain the communications platform. Attend Board meetings to relay pertinent information regarding the site, & offer any advice to make the site more visible & user-friendly. Keep a creative & open mind as to implementing a possible re-design.

 

Position: Product Sales
Time Commitment:

Varies according to product requests…approximately 1-2 hours per month.

Requirements:

Adequate storage for product line

Duties:

·1 Package and mailing of products ordered. 

·2 Forward billing information and/or payments,  

·3 Postage reimbursement paperwork to treasurer.

·4 Inventory reports to treasurer as re-quested.

·5 Year-end report for annual meeting.

·6 Notify board for authorization regarding product reordering.

·7 Supply special events coordinator with products as needed

 

Position: Farm Bureau Liaison
Time Commitment:

Typically about 1 to 2 hours a month, but could vary depending on meetings.

Requirements:

Attending the NH Farm Bureau Equine Committee meetings in Concord which are typically every other month, and possess the ability to relay information between the NHFB Equine Committee and the New Hampshire Horse Council. Reliable transportation and communications skills a must.

Duties:

Report related NHFB Equine Committee business to the NH Horse Council that contains pertinent issues within the horse industry and or developing equine programs that would directly involve the NHHC. Convey like information as stated above that would directly involve participation by the NHFB Equine Committee. Be able to present the information at meetings either verbally or transcribed. May have to submit articles for print in order to generate an interest in the equine community.

 

Position: Newsletter Staff (Editor & Graphics Designer)
Time Commitment:

Roughly a 2-week time period 4X’s a year; however, gathering articles is ongoing between publications

Requirements:

PC and Internet capabilities; a publishing program; abilities to receive and send graphics, pictures, PDF files; good command of the English language; layout and graphic design; be a self starter; be creative and imaginative; organizational skills a strong plus.

Duties:

Produce a 16-page newsletter 4X’s a year and get print ready file to the publisher for printing. Pick up finished product and affix mail labels and stamps and deliver to PO for mailing. Most articles submitted for the newsletter need no editing or fine tuning; however, the editor may be required to do some editing for length, grammar and punctuation.. Must be able to work with graphics and artwork provided by outside advertisers. An eye for details and accuracy is important. This position may rely heavily on the Correspondence Editor and Board members for article submissions.

 

Position: Correspondence Coordinator
Time Commitment:

Varies but usually a minimum of 3 hours each month

Requirements:

PC and Internet capabilities; good command of the English language; enjoy creative writing; imagination and creativity a plus.

Duties:

Prepare monthly updates to trade magazines on NHHC activities, board appointments, and industry alerts from our national affiliations for submission via email by the 20th of the month. This position relies heavily on input from many sources, including other board members, current events, emails of noteworthy interest from friends and associates, current events from various equine associations, national horse affiliations, etc. Excerpts from an article that is not in wide circulation can also be used as long as credits are given.

Respond to recruitment emails from individuals interested in becoming actively involved in the NHHC. Responsible for obtaining a resume from a prospective candidate; distributing resume to the Board for review; inviting candidate to attend a board meeting; and obtaining a photo of the new board member to be submitted to the newsletter committee for publishing.. Retain a copy of all Board biographicals and photos. All files must be in a format easily transmitted via email.

Prepare Annual Report of all NHHC committees for the Annual Meeting held in February.

Provide photographer services whenever possible.

Position: Membership Chairman
Time Commitment: Varies, approximately 3 – 4 hours per month
Requirements:

·1 Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, & Publisher

·2 Must be familiar with contact databases/managers

Duties:

·1 To maintain the member database

·2 Update member information as needed

·3 Mail membership benefit letter and member id card to new and renewing members

·4 Record the member’s name, address and contact information, member level and submit monies to Treasurer

·5 Send monthly member updates with appropriate payments received from Treasurer to Equine Journal contact for annual subscriptions. This would include address updates or deletions from the Equine Journal subsection lists.

·6 Create and mail monthly renewal cards to current members

·7 Create mailing labels with member’s expiration date for quarterly newsletter

·8 Create reports, lists and/or labels as required Council activities

·9 Work in conjunction with the Secretary with respect to Membership Lists and status.

 

 

Position: Treasurer
Time Commitment: Varies, requires minimum 5 hours per month
Requirements: Accounting experience required, not-for-profit experience preferred, strong PC skills essential
Duties: Maintain Council checkbook including making payments, deposits and monthly reconciliation; official "keeper of the records"; maintain liability insurance including certificate requests; file state and federal not-for-profit reports as required; tracking, monitoring and reporting of any grant funds as required; record keeping and filing of state and/or federal tax forms as required; budget development, maintenance and reporting; cost accounting and reporting for planning purposes; inventory tracking; bi-monthly reporting to Board and annual reporting to full membership; stay current with state and federal regulations regarding not-for-profit organizations and assure Council compliance

 

 

 

Position: Secretary
Time Commitment: Varies, requires minimum tbd hours per month
Requirements: Detailed oriented, word processing and keyboarding skills,
Duties:

·1 To attend the Board Meetings and record the proceedings in an accurate and detailed manner.

·2 To maintain an historical record of all Board Meetings.

·3 To collect and record all reports presented at the Board meetings.

·4 To respond to any correspondence for the organization and forward to the Board Members when necessary.

·5 To compile and record the annual reports and to maintain a historical record of all reports.

·6 To maintain an accurate listing of all members. To provide a current list of Grand Champion and Pegasus Members to the Web Master to keep the web site accurate.

·7 To work in conjunction with the Membership Chairperson with respect to the Membership listing and status.
